Greg
Greg is a native of Upstate New York, growing up in Syracuse and going on to study Industrial Design at Syracuse University. Upon graduation in May ‘08, he journeyed to Oregon to complete a Natural Building apprenticeship at the Cob Cottage Company. The Apprentice group built the “Bedrock,” a small dwelling tucked amidst the trees of the Oregon Rainforest. Two months after returning to the East Coast, Greg started a cob project in Carrboro, NC, at Pickards Mountain Eco-Institute. With the knowledge attained in Oregon, he designed a gardener’s cottage and built it from start-to-finish with the help of friends and workshop participants.
Greg currently divides his time between dreaming and realizing cob projects in North Carolina, and being a community member and builder at Stony Creek Farm in Walton, NY. His personal vision for his time in Durham is the creation of an urban natural building school that will focus on inexpensive/beautiful housing solutions, utilizing local resources, including the vast collections of urban “waste.” In addition to cob, he is most passionate about pottery, biking, and cooking.
