A good home must be made, not bought. - Joyce Maynard

Dana

Dana Mortensen, LEED AP, is owner of Eco Interiors, a design firm that provides eco-logical and stylish solutions for renovating and constructing interiors. Dana has an education in psychology, health, and design, which help to inspire non-toxic, eco-chic, and personalized working and living spaces. After working on the cob house at the Pickard Mountain, Dana became a believer in cob’s ability to provide a creative and affordable alternative to stick-building.

As a designer, Dana understands not only the ecological impact of the built environment, but also the safety and social impacts of the design-build process. Eco Interiors’ is interested in designing sustainable, nourishing dwellings that allow people to downsize into a high- functioning, green space designed for aging-in-place.

Dana’s eco-awareness began on a childhood bike ride, when she landed atop a retired landfill, dismayed by a bathtub plug extruding from its mass grave. She is a fan of non-toxic interiors and advocates reusing and repurposing materials; both of which are accomplished in cob building. Her free time is spent with her camera and a tribe of do-gooders. Dana is also a licensed psychotherapist specializing in counseling families facing illness. You can contact Dana at Eco Interiors.
